Bhutan, in full the Kingdom of Bhutan, is a landlocked country in South Asia. It lies at the eastern end of the Himalayan mountains. It is bordered by India to the south, east and west and the Tibet Autonomous Region in the People's Republic of China to the north. Bhutan is separated from nearby Nepal by the Indian state of Sikkim. The capital of Bhutan is Thimphu. Population approximately 780,000. Area approx. 38,000 sq km. The state system is a constitutional monarchy(since 2008). The king is Jigme Khesar Namgyel Wangchuck.
